We Are Maumee promotes a vibrant, inclusive school community where every student can excel academically and through extracurricular activities. Recognizing that pay-to-play fees for sports, clubs, and other extracurricular programs can create financial barriers, We Are Maumee has developed a program to ensure these opportunities are accessible to all students. This program supports both school year and summer sports activities in Maumee.

Purpose

The primary goal of this grant is to help eliminate financial obstacles that might prevent students from engaging in extracurricular activities. By covering “pay-to-play fees” for those families that are facing financial obstacles, the grant enables students to pursue their interests, develop new skills, and become active participants in the Maumee community.

Eligibility

· Maumee Resident

· Maumee School District students enrolled in grades 6–12.

· (Applicants must demonstrate financial need, as determined by eligibility for free or reduced lunch or through a confidential assessment by school counselors, coaches, and program directors.)

· Students are required to maintain good academic standing as defined by district guidelines and show commitment to participating in their selected activity throughout the duration of the program.

· The grant may be applied to any approved extracurricular activity that requires a pay-to-play fee, including athletics, summer sports programs, arts, academic clubs, and more. 

· One (1) grant per household.

· Currently, travel sports programs are ineligible.

Application Process

· Students are nominated by the school counselors, coaches, directors, club teaching advisors, by emailing the application directly to the family. (Families cannot self-nominate).

· Applicants must indicate the activity for which they are seeking fee assistance.

· All applications are reviewed in confidence by We Are Maumee Members/Executive Committee.

· Awards are granted on a rolling basis, subject to available funds, and one grant per family.

Impact

 The Grant Fund reflects We Are Maumee’s dedication and commitment to the community by driving the focus of student inclusion and development. By removing pay-to-play barriers, the program opens doors for more students to experience teamwork, leadership, creativity, and personal growth. Whether discovering a

passion for music, excelling on the field, or connecting with peers through service clubs, recipients of this grant gain invaluable experiences that will enrich their education and foster a lifelong love of learning and community engagement
